Inspiration Post:      One artist that has inspired me recently is Lisa Smith, who is a graphic designer and has created many well know redesigns of brands. She is currently a creative director at Jones Knowles Ritchie. A few of the designs she worked on include Burger King, Chobani, and The MET. Chobani is one of the brands that she worked on, giving the whole brand a new look that more closely matches Chobani's goal and outlook as a company. I really like how this design that she made looks. The design of fruit looks almost like watercolor and the new type face fits this new style very well. Burger King is another design that she helped work on. The design is actually a call back to one of their older logos, to which they updated. Smith knew that this old logo was nostalgic and already worked well, so she updated it by changing the type face so something more round and bouncy, and made the bun more round too to give it almost a retro feel.       ...

Reflection Page: I finished making the geometric eastern blue bird that I started last week, and here is the final product:          I am very happy with how the finished product of this bird, and I think it turned out better than the last one I made. There are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly, I made more of an effort to focus on where the light was hitting this bird to make it look more 3D and believable. As a result of paying attention to where the light was coming from, I also became more intentional about what saturation values the triangles should have. For example I understood that the orange part of the bird in the shadow area would actually look more brown than orange because of the saturation. Another thing I tried to add to this bird was a more interesting pose, which was partly just finding a more interesting reference photo, but also making the bird's beak open rather than the closed beak in the reference photo. The last thing I changed (...

Process Page:           This week I tried something a little different and started working on geometric designs based off of birds. I wanted to try this because I came across one picture on a similar design and I really liked how the simple design looked. So here is what I have done so far in this style. This is the reference picture I used for the Chickadee bird      This is a how I used the reference to make the shapes and choose the right colors Here is the final design for this bird           After finishing the chickadee I wanted to make more geometric birds and experiment more with lighting and gesture. I decided next to choose a blue bird. This is the reference picture for the blue bird This is all that I have done so far for this bird                    After already finishing one design and starting another one in a week, I am pretty happy with...

End of MP 2 Presentations Reflection

Image
During the MP2 reflection presentations this year, I found a few that impressed and inspired me. Erica's blog post was one of the presentations that I liked. I really liked the projects she was working on and how they applied to the theme of art and nature. I did this theme for my work last year, so I understand the difficulty and time it takes to produce this type of art. One thing I learned from her was another way to plan before starting a project: making a Pinterest board. I have never tried making a Pinterest board for inspiration on a project before, but I think it could be helpful for graphic design. I could use a Pinterest board in the future to gather designs that follow a style I want to imitate. Link to her Pinterest:  https://www.pinterest.com/ericuhhhhhh/blender-inspiration/ image from her Pinterest what she produced           Another presentation that inspired me was Savannah's work and her process ...
