Inspiration Blog Post:      I recently found this animation about a sentient mushroom on YouTube that I really liked. Its overall an AMAZING animation, but there were a few specific things that inspired me.      This short film was made by the YouTube channel "HEROmation," and was directed by Michael Cawood. Cawood is a British Filmmaker who has won many awards. He started animating in 1994, and has since  created various Films, Series, Commercials, VR, and Games. He has earned many  'Best Short Film' and 'Best Animation' awards, plus an Orson Welles Award. His featured films include  Bumblebee, D awn of the Planet of the Apes,  Happy Feet,  Pete's Dragon, and  Ghostbusters.      There are a few things that inspired me in this animation. One of them was how well emotion was expressed through the animation. This was especially impressive because none of the mushrooms had eyes or mouths. The emotion was ...

Process Page:      Recently I have been working on the animation part of my project, specifically the animation of the leaf falling. I have some pictures here that show how I am working through that process.      The first thing I did was I made three pairs of semicircles, one for each speed variation I was incorporating. To make things go faster or slower, I make the keyframes the same time apart, but I change the distance that the leaf has to travel. The green pair is fast, the yellow is in the middle, and the red is slow. Originally I had four different pairs, but then I changed it to three because I realized a fourth one was unnecessary. I also originally had the change in distance less drastic between the colors, but I decided to make them farther apart because the speed change wasn't noticeable enough.      Once I had the spacing figured out, I moved on to the actual placement of these markers. To make the path look semi realistic,...

Experimentation Page: I decided to experiment with different textures I could use for the hand in my project. Option #1:  ( https://depositphotos.com/53710419/stock-photo-human-skin-texture.html ) For my first texture option, I tested this skin texture on the hand model. It looks fine on the hand, but I do realize now that the skin texture on our hands looks different to the texture on our arms or face. So looking back at this texture, it looks like the texture on an arm, rather than a hand. Option #2:  ( https://www.rawpixel.com/image/2735080/premium-photo-image-skin-texture-care ) You can see the a test of the second option above. This one is more smooth than the first texture, and it looks pretty decent. The only thing I don't like about this one is how smooth it is. I would prefer if it had more of a texture, for example more of a crosshatch look Option #2:  ( https://www.megapixl.com/close-up-top-of-hand-skin-texture-stock-photo-51684092 ) For the last option, I have...

Inspiration Blog Post:      I decided to find an animation that had leaves moving so that I could use it as a reference for my own animation. I really liked how the leaves in this animation looked and I would like to match the way that the animation is done.      The animation was made by Tomer Eshed, who is an animator that attended an art school in Israel and learned how to make animations in Potsdam, Germany.       Watching this animation, I was impressed how well the animation was done. The timing, smoothness, and realistic textures all impressed me. The thing that impressed me the most however, was how realistic they made the leaves move in the first minute or so of the short film. I wasn't focusing so much on the actual character, but instead focused on the leaves in the background. How they sway gently back and forth, and they move realistically whenever the chameleon jumps or moves around on the branch. I thought this was very impres...
