Experimentation Page:
I decided to experiment with different textures I could use for the hand in my project.
Option #1: (https://depositphotos.com/53710419/stock-photo-human-skin-texture.html)
For my first texture option, I tested this skin texture on the hand model. It looks fine on the hand, but I do realize now that the skin texture on our hands looks different to the texture on our arms or face. So looking back at this texture, it looks like the texture on an arm, rather than a hand.
You can see the a test of the second option above. This one is more smooth than the first texture, and it looks pretty decent. The only thing I don't like about this one is how smooth it is. I would prefer if it had more of a texture, for example more of a crosshatch look
For the last option, I have the texture above. I provided two screenshots, one normal shot, and one close up. I like how this one has more of a textured look and it isn't completely smooth. I also like how it isn't too overwhelming either, cause I don't want it to distract from the leaf.
Final thoughts:
Looking at all of them, I think I like the third option the best, because it isn't completely smooth, but it isn't overwhelming either. I think it looks realistic enough for my project. Obviously, the hand will look a little different in my final animation because of lighting and different nodes. I am happy with how this experiment came out, and I am glad I actually tested the different textures on the hand, rather than just looking at them by themselves, so that I could come to the best conclusion.
