Blog Post and Work Log 2/6/22

Inspiration Blog Post:

I decided to find an animation that had leaves moving so that I could use it as a reference for my own animation. I really liked how the leaves in this animation looked and I would like to match the way that the animation is done.

The animation was made by Tomer Eshed, who is an animator that attended an art school in Israel and learned how to make animations in Potsdam, Germany.

Watching this animation, I was impressed how well the animation was done. The timing, smoothness, and realistic textures all impressed me. The thing that impressed me the most however, was how realistic they made the leaves move in the first minute or so of the short film. I wasn't focusing so much on the actual character, but instead focused on the leaves in the background. How they sway gently back and forth, and they move realistically whenever the chameleon jumps or moves around on the branch. I thought this was very impressive because I am working on animating a leaf falling down a tree right now, and I realize how hard it is to make a leaf move in a realistic way. I hope to achieve this level of animation with my project, but I realize it may not turn out how I want. Either way, I was inspired by this short film and I am glad I came across it.
