Inspiration Page: One collection of artists that inspired me during my project was Blender Studios . Blender Studios has made many animations to demonstrate how blender can be used . They also make tutorials about how to use blender . They are a team developed by Blender to showcase the potential of their free engine . Here are some of their art works that inspired me specifically : One thing that specifically inspired me in the short film "Spring" was how realistic the nature in the forest looked ; the grass, the landscape, the trees etc . Another thing that inspired me was how well they changed the colors and look of the nature to match the change in season . Especially when at one point in the short film it cut to a shot of a pink flower blooming. The technique they used to animate the flower growing is also very impressive, and inspires me to try more animating techniques. In the second short film called "Caminades" I was inspired by ...

Investigation Blog Post 10/17: Introduction Pages

Introduction to Nature and Looking Outward:          This year I decided to go with the them Nature and Looking Outward . To explore these two themes, I have decided to do a little research and find some examples of these ideas .           First, what does it mean to have a theme of nature and looking outward? Having a theme of nature means that the main focus of the art piece has to do with plants, animals, landscapes , etc. And having a theme of looking outward means the main idea has to do with looking around at our daily lives ; what is happening here and now. Combining these two ideas, I selected my theme.         The reason I chose these two themes is because I like how much nature plays a part in out lives .  I also like how looking outward pairs nicely with the nature theme. I also like how nature is portrayed in movies and games , and how it adds to the ambience and mood of the media . ...

Image and text

Banksy: Banksy is a graffiti artist that has become popular. His identity remains a mystery, and he travels around the world creating public art works on buildings, trucks, and more. He also has been known to add text along with an image to communicate meaning. The picture by itself can have one meaning, but when you add text with it, it can completely change the meaning. The text can help add a sarcastic tone, a political commentary, a deep meaning, and the list goes on. Examples: This is one of Banksy's art works that includes both picture and text. It shows a man holding a paint brush next to words that say "Follow your Dreams." However, painted red over this phrase is the word "cancelled." This gives a new meaning to the picture of the man with a paint brush. In hints that we are always told to follow our dreams, but in reality, society often will knock us down. This teaches us a lesson that we should not give up on our dreams, even if people try to deter us...

Layering Research Project: David Salle

Image
David Salle: David Salle is a post-modern artist who does photography, printmaking, and painting. He is known for using the Layering technique in many of his art pieces. By doing this, he adds complexity and interest to his art works, and makes the viewer question why each picture is added, and what it contributes to the over all meaning. Examples: In the example to the right, we can see one of his art works. This particular piece uses a technique called layering, which is when different pictures are layered on top of each other to make to show complexity, and make the audience question the meaning of the picture. This specific picture has many images like a car, a pack of cigarettes, an old picture of a woman, and what looks to be a watermelon. All of these layered objects at first glance seen to have nothing to do with each other, which creates interest in the viewer. Why are these images specifically selected? What do they add to the overall meaning of the piece? These are the ...
