Introduction to Nature and Looking Outward:

This year I decided to go with the them Nature and Looking Outward. To explore these two themes, I have decided to do a little research and find some examples of these ideas.

First, what does it mean to have a theme of nature and looking outward? Having a theme of nature means that the main focus of the art piece has to do with plants, animals, landscapes, etc. And having a theme of looking outward means the main idea has to do with looking around at our daily lives; what is happening here and now. Combining these two ideas, I selected my theme.

The reason I chose these two themes is because I like how much nature plays a part in out lives. I also like how looking outward pairs nicely with the nature theme. I also like how nature is portrayed in movies and games, and how it adds to the ambience and mood of the media. One example of this is the movie Avatar, which includes a lot of nature, and creates a very cool aesthetic.

Investigation in Art Works:

This artist, Katerina Apale, uses the theme of nature in her painting. We can see this because of the many flowers, leaves, and birds that blend together in this piece. The painting itself portrays nature very nicely with its bright and bold colors. Because of this, the leaves and flowers pair very nicely with the parrots. The technique is also very nice, and this painting is very inspiring to me.

One art piece that is an example of looking outward, can be found in an art gallery called Viridian Artists. These two paintings both show a glimpse into our daily lives. The depict condiments, salt and pepper shakers, napkins, and sugar packets. These items are things are commonly found at restaurants, and are a good example of things that we commonly overlook in our daily lives.
