 Progress Page:

This week I continued working on the humming bird. This bird is proving more difficult than the the others I made, probably because there are more areas of it's wings that I have to create.

These are the tail feathers that I finished in the beginning of the week

This is part of the wing I was working on, but I didn't like how it was looking so I redid it.

This is what that area looked like after I fixed it.

Here is the reference picture I used

This is the most challenging of the birds I have made so far, but I think it is turning out good so far even there are parts I had to redo. The tail feathers is the one of the main reasons this bird is taking so long because it took me almost a week just to make them. This is because all the tail feathers are white and there isn't a huge color variation to each feather. I really had to focus on the shadows and where the light was coming from in order for them to actually look like feathers. If not, it would just look like a big white blob.
Once I finally finished the tail feathers I moved on to the wings. I started making part of them but then decided it didn't look right and changed it. I looked weird because I made the shapes in that area too light when in reality they should be darker because they are in a shadow area. They also at first looked too gray and not green enough. That is why I just decided to redo them to make it look more accurate to the lighting.
