Blog Post and Work Log 1/8/23

Reflection Page:

I recently finished making a logo for my crochet account on Instagram. I decided to also make a business card with this new logo on it so that I can give them out at the district arts festival if I want. Here are the finished products:

This is the logo without the words that I will use for my icon in the actual app.

This is the logo with the words at the bottom. This is what I put on the business card.

Reflection:

Overall I am pretty happy with both the logo and business card turned out. I tried to keep the design for both the logo and business card pretty simple, and I think I achieved that in the final design. One thing I did struggle with was aligning the blue body of the penguin with the white stomach. I eventually did figure out how to do this but I feel like there was an easier way to do it. Another thing that took some time to figure out was how I wanted to create the yarn. This was challenging because I didn't want to make it too detailed since the rest of the logo is pretty simple. I eventually decided to use a reference photo of actual yarn to replicate the natural direction of each strand of yarn. I did eventually come to a point where I was happy with how the yarn looked. However, if I could go back I would probably try to simplify the yarn even more and make there be less strands of yarn. For the business card I experimented with different layouts and designs on the card. I am not completely in love with the finished business card layout, it is the best that I could come up with and I think it will work fine.
