Blog Post and Work Log 11/5/22

Process Page:

I started a new project recently because my friend asked if I could make a logo for book club that we are both in. Here are some pictures of my progress so far.

These are four initial sketches that I made and showed to the book club leader. She told me that she liked all of them, but that the two on the left were her favorite.

First I wanted to work on the open book with flowers design, so I sketched it bigger so that I could use it as a reference in illustrator.

This is what I have so far in illustrator. I still have to fix some things in the design and add the text underneath, but I am pretty happy with how things are going so far.

Overall, I am pretty happy with how the design is coming along. I still want to make the stack of books design on illustrator, but I think I have made good progress. One of the challenges I came across was the gradients I used for shadows and also on the flowers. I had trouble getting the gradient the way I pictured it but I eventually got it there. One thing new that I tried was using textures, and I am not sure what I think of them in this logo. I like how the textures look because they are subtle but I don't know if they are suitable for a logo (this logo will most likely stay digital so it might not be a problem).
