Blog Post and Work Log 10/23/22

Reflection Page:

        I recently finished redesigning the Science Olympiad Club's logo that I was asked to make. Now that I have the final versions for each shirt style (white hoodie, black t-shirt, Mountain View shirt, Eagle View shirt), I would like to reflect on the process; what I liked and didn't, and challenges along the way.

        Overall I am pretty happy with how this design came out. It was definitely a new experience and I had to learn how to use the basics of Illustrator to make the design. Considering this it my first time making a logo, I would say I did pretty well, but there are definitely things I could improve on. 

        During the process of making the design, I should have given my client more initial sketches to choose from to make sure that I was capturing the logo they wanted. Having said that, I did alter the design many different times to make it how they preferred. One of the problems I came across was making sure the design didn't have too many small parts so that it could print easily on a shirt. Because of this I had to cut down on the number of shapes so they could be bigger. 

        I did also have trouble with figuring out the layers in Illustrator; making sure reference image was behind the actual drawing. The good thing is that I can easily fix that by finding a tutorial on YouTube or looking at the different guidance videos that Adobe Illustrator provides. In the future I think I should do a little more experimenting with the different things I can do in Illustrator before I jump right into making the design digitally.

        In my next project I hope that I can use the new experience I have gained to help me. I am optimistic that I can make even better logos in the future.

Friday: continued making different designs for a book club logo and showed them to the club head
